Can some one help me get a home swap?

I have a child with special needs, and I am trying to move into a larger home. Locata has not been helpful, and I have not had any offers. I am having trouble getting a swap as well, because I am classed as over crowded, and I can not swap my two bed for another two bed, it has to be a three. I have tried, but the council blocked the swap, saying I would be over crowded again. My flat is so tiny, I can not fit even a bunk bed in the single room where my 14 year old sleeps, and as a result, my 3 year old with the special needs is sleeping with me, while my husband sleeps on the sofa. The child development centre my son attends says this is detrimental to his development, but the council doesn't care. So, does anyone know of someone who wants to downsize, and has a ground floor three bed in Brent, and would like to swap for a two bed in Fulham Broadway? I would prefer a garden, so my son has some where to play, but it isn't essential.

My e-mail is xuxu124@hotmail.com Thanks

Can some one help me get a home swap?
this is terrible you should get help from the council do you not have a social worker?you can self refer if not at your health centre,or see your local M P.and get them to do something on your behalf you have enough stress this is just adding and your health could suffer tell them if they do not act you will visit the news papers,it will affect your marriage your husband should not have to sleep on the sofa forever seek advice now!good luck
Reply:Well i would see Citizens advice about th problem that you are facing. Because if the council have stated that you are over crowded then it their responsibility to make sure they rectify the problem.

What can u say about the structure of this history?

Are there any words, phrases or constructions that are different from the standard?

“When Henry VIII called Hampton court palace home, it was one of the most magnificent palaces in England, the nerve centre of court life and poltics.

In Its dark corridors alliances were forged, in its scented gardens plots hatched.

As a courtier, if you valued your life, you needed to stay alert.

Immerse yourself in the drama of the Tudor court and discover a palace of majesty, romance and extravagances”

What can u say about the structure of this history?
Not an easy question to answer. For a start there is some erratic capitalisation. For example it should be 'Hampton Court Palace' since that is the name of the palace. Also 'In Its dark corridors' should be 'In its dark corridors'. (This might be because you've typed it in quickly. It happens to Me too).

It might also be better to say 'extravagance' rather than 'extravagances'.

What are you comparing this quotation too? It seems as though it is on a tourist brochure or something like that.

As this is in the Words %26amp; Wordplay section, I'm guessing that it might be to do with the words that conjure up images of plotting and scheming. Darkened corridors where courtiers stood exchanging the latest gossip, ornate gardens wherein courtiers seemingly taking a pleasant evening's stroll were again gossiping and plotting.

However, it is incorrect to call it the nerve centre of court life and politics. The Tudor court was wherever the monarch happened to be. Henry VIII had more than one palace, and the court followed him around. That might sound pedantic but it's important to note it was the people and the monarch who made the court. Hampton Court was merely one of the venues.
Reply:Sounds too Mills and Boon I am afraid, i am not sure whether you are asking for it to be rephrased.

Turtle question!! dnt answer if u dnt no!?
here is a site that will help you , most probably they are red eared sliders or yellow bellied sliders, these are the most common turtle in the pet trade http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/reptilest... no you don't need to put salt in the water they are fresh water turtles, the minimum you will need is a ten gallon tank, a good filter a UV light and basking light, a water heater, and some plants, a turtle needs a place whee it can come out of the water and bask, a UV light is important as they need to get the essential UV rays to help digest their food, if the tank is cold or the water is cold then they won't eat and will get sick here is a site that will give you lots of information on caring for a turtle http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/aq...
Reply:turtles/terrapins can be kept in a large freshwater tank, temp wise it needs to be a bout 60-70c or room temp. they need places to get out of the water and bask and you will need a very good filter system otherwise after a couple of days the water will cloud up and smell really bad. feed wise just get some terrapin food sticks which float on the surface and give about 4 to each terrapin every day , i use to keep the liver from raw chickens and freeze it and cut a bit off as a treat every day. make sure you wash your hands after handling them or putting your hand in the water as you can get salmonella .
Reply:i think this is a spur moment

take a step back and ask yourself do i really want to get a turtle

you don't sound very in the know start reading up on them once you think you know everything there is to know read some more and then consider it before you get the turtle you need to ste up thank and leave it a week thenget the turtles

and the doan't live in salt water unless the are marine turtles which i doubt these ones are

Cheeseplant gone mad....?

I have a gorgeous cheeseplant, which has really come on well over the past year - but is now getting absolutely huge! Can't buy another pot to replant it, as I have the largest one the garden centre had - any ideas?!!!!?? Can they be "pruned" of older leaves - what is the best thing to do with it? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Cheeseplant gone mad....?
The best thing for you to do is to take a cutting and start over. Pick a healthy looking area of stem near the top of the plant or a shoot. Make an upward cut half to two thirds of the way through the stem, being careful not to cut completely through. Take a good handful of damp sphagnum moss and wrap it around the cut so that some of it is in the cut. Wrap the moss with plastic and tape it securely at the top and bottom of the plastic. Use a small stick to splint the area for support. After three or four months, loosen the plastic and check for new roots. Remove the cutting entirely and plant the newly rooted cutting on good potting soil and you are on you way to a new plant.
Reply:unless you can transplant it into a yard ( which i assume you do not have ) then you'll need to keep pruning it --- if you would like it to be bushy as opposed to gaining height --- then thin out most of the middle ./ good luck .

Just how BIG will this fish grow?

I bought a Channel Catfish from an aquatics centre back in 1999. They told me it would grow to about 10 inches in length. I have a 5000 gallon pond in my garden where he lives. He`s now about 4ft in length and the last time I weighed him (in 2005) he was 65lbs. I feed him tinned cat/dog food twice a day at dawn and dusk. I wondered if anyone else had one? Or knew just how big he`s likely to get? And how long do they live for??? Thanks!

Just how BIG will this fish grow?
Channel Catfish are one of the largest fish found in Northern Virginia. They can grow to almost four feet long and up to 50 pounds, however they are usually much smaller. It is not uncommon to see a fish three feet long and twenty pounds.

Channel Catfish are usually slender and mostly bluish-gray. The sides may be light blue or silvery with scattered black spots, and the belly is white.

Channel Catfish have a large flat head with large eyes. They have an overbite and eight barbels (whiskers) around their mouths.

They can also be identified by their caudal (tail) fin, which is forked.
Reply:channel cats will get about 14-20 in, the thing is that ponds get low in temp in the winter. Probably a little lower than what they can with stand. So the best thing is to get them out of the pond, but it sounds like that may be a problem with you. But i think they will get closer to about 18 in. But that is in an aquarium, i guess it just depends on food, and things like that. But he probably has plenty of food. So he will probably get jsut that big
Reply:My husband is an avid fisherman and has seen them get up to 100lbs and 6 ft long. In the lake near where I grew up the scuba divers say there are some that are about 8ft long. they sit at the bottom and just filter feed.
Reply:Holy crap!

I don't even feed my DOG twice a day!!!

Your pond is huge, and you are feeding him rather well, so that's why he is huge!!!!

Alert the media you could have a recordholder there!!!
Reply:The size of the environment effects fishes' growing rate.Bigger the aquarium bigger the fish got it?

Usually they grow up to 50 lbs and around 1 meter (40 inches)

And they may live up to 35-40 years.

Dude you have a lifetime pet and you are feeding him too much :) buy him company for his lonely nights (this may make him lose some weight)
Reply:You must have a blue channel catfish. Apparently the store you bought him from that did not kknow what they were talking about. A blue channel cat is grey in color with a big head with long whiskers. A blue channel catfish will grow larger than a human in a lake. You have a small pond. apparently you must have a blue channel catfish if it is that big already. Look at the color of the fish. You need to learn the people you are buying you are buying your fish from. Always ask this ? What kind of fish is this? If they dont know dont buy it. If you don't know dont buy it.
Reply:i heard stories like 75-80 pounds

about age ??? dont sorry my dad had a catfish not sure what type for 15 years

Composting Failure?

o.k. my composting won't work, over 3 years I have put layers of grass clippings , green waste, potato peelings and compost assist nutrients from packs from garden centres ,watered now and again, left in a council issue compost bin, on soil, with a lid on, at the bottom of my garden next to shrubs that thrive, no joy at all what am I doing wrong and how can I get the lovely crumbly stuff for my veg plot that seems to come easy to TV gardening programmes?

Composting Failure?
possibly too much grass. I know this sounds mad but try urinating on it. Its obviously putting nutrients into the ground as the shrubs look great.

Move it away from plants. Tip the whole lot out, and start again. Put some of the oldest stuff at the bottom but make sure you have some drainage underneath too if possible.

Put in one layer with compost powder and some screwed up newspaper, a couple of pieces shredded should do.

The put on another layer and repeat until full again. make sure lid is on tight and leave for a few months. I never water mine and its fine though full of beatles and worms ;0)
Reply:Agree with the "too much grass clippings" theory.

If you don't have a shreddder or enough shrubbery to bulk out the compost, then a bale of straw mixed in with the existing material in there may help aerate (%26amp; salvage) the mix. In my experience you need a good helping of 'brown/woody' waste to get a good compost.
Reply:You need to use a layer of newspapers in between the layers. This will stop it from becoming a soaking, rotting dump of squelch at the bottom of the bin. Unfold a newspaper in half and place it down, probably once a month, over the existing cuttings and such. You can also buy tubs of worms, which will help to break the compost down and recycle the whole bin.
Reply:I believe you need to stir it around from time to time to help it breathe.
Reply:i have a composter made from a wheely bin put some leaf mold in the bottom then start puting in your house hold waste tea bags any veg trimmings peelings weeds but not to many grass cuttings these create heat witch is bad then go to www.scottish worms .co.uk and get a kilo of dendrobenas £25 inc postage mine is working great and i have a good supply of fishing bait as well have a look on there site it gives you an idea on what to put in and what not ( onions leeks and any citrus waste ) the worms eat there own body weight every day and breed every 3 weeks plus you can scrape out from the bottom and put on your garden make your plant grow hope this helps

regards compo
Reply:the first thing you need to do is to check the temprature in the middle of it....if it is not above 100F than you need add more things....leafs for an example....shreaded newspapers...secondly you have to stir the compost every other day...add some worms as the help with process and eat the bacteria from the food.....DO NOT URINATE on your compost...the pH level will be too high and your veggies will die if you add the compost to the soil....put in all of your kitchen waste....except meat and bones....I mean veggies, egg shells, things like that...potatoes peels takes a long time to break down...also it takes almost two years to get good compost...you need to add a second compost so you can use it every year...one is not enough...check the location....is there enough sun getting to the compsot...sun generates heat....keeping stirring and adding more things.....you may not be able to use it this year...but next year you might....also keep stiring in the colder months
