Everyday on my train ride to work we pass this garden and it has a really beautiful plant in it. If I describe it maybe someone could identify it for me please. It has a beautiiful red centre flower and lots of green leaves going round the outside. It looks about the height of a football. There are quite a lot of them in a row.
Can anyone identify this plant?

Are you in a tropical, or temperate zone?
What size/shape are the leaves?
How tall is the plant?
Is the flower itself the size of a football?
