saw this plant in a garden centre!..it has lovely pink flowers on it( sort of long n spikey) and apparently they are popular in aussie and very hard to kill of there! do you know the name?? as i forgot!! info isn't brill ! sorry!

Sounds like a Callistemon, or the "Bottle Brush Plant" as correctly pointed out be Dazzle. They do come in slightly different sized flowers and flower colours too.
Hope that helps. They aren't that hardy here though if you have cold wet soil. Relatively easy to grow though otherwise and well worth giving it a go. Just remember that in Aus' it grows in hot dry conditions in full sun.

Reply:Sounds to me as it is what they call the bottle brush plant -- that is the common name for it.
