A few questions about bulbs?

when I buy bulbs from the garden centre, where have they originally come from?

Do bulbs grow from seeds?

If bulbs are underground stems, how come some plants, like the tree onion, produce large clusters of bulbs above ground?

A few questions about bulbs?
There are many sources of bulbs that are sold in garden centers. they usually are grown commercially where the soil is sandy so that they can be easily harvested. Different varieties are grown in different climates, where ever they thrive best.

Plants that form bulbs can also reproduce from seeds. Plant scientists develop new varieties by cross pollination. Once a new type is developed, there are special techniques that are used to make the bulb grow many small bulbs that are then grown for harvesting and sale. They are like clones, having the same genetic material as the parent plant.

Some varities of lily such as onions grow small boubs above the ground and then drop then to reproduce.
